Is there such a thing as the Standard Catalogue of Colt?

(have the SC of Smith & Wesson)

A friend gave me 2 guns to clean, oil & "check out"

One of them is a Colt .25 acp.
She said she found it under her dad's mattress when he passed away.

I'm not in to Colts, so I don't know anything about it.
Any idea on year? (those grips look pretty old - I'm guessing 1950s?)

The other is an Iver Johnson 22mag revolver, but I'll post another thread in the revolver section about that one.

This is the Vest Pocket Model 1908-Hammerless. It was offered from 1908 to 1946, though production was halted in 1941 due to the war. Overall production was slightly less than 41,000 pistols. Early models had hard rubber grips while later ones had walnut. Can you post the first three numbers of the serial number, along with how many numbers there are all together?

Older from the look
but, check out wikipedia, or worldguns, those are pretty good places to start and have pics, if I have to guess, a 19XX series (try 1903 hamerless) or a baby browning, there was also the vest pocket, but that might have just been a FN/browning design, I forget.

I have a 1908 pocket pistol myself. Mine was given to me by a widow who didn't want it in the house after her husband passed away. The bluing is totally gone as is most of the barrel rifleing. In decent shape, there collectable.
Mine only comes out of the safe when I need it to mold a holster.

Took it to the range today.
Nothing special about it.
I was able to hit the target at 25 yards, but not too many bulls-eyes.

25 acp ammo is not cheap, & it's pretty hard to find.
I went to 3 stores before finding that the 3rd had some at $20/box of 50.

But it is a cute little gun. Looks a lot like my Beretta Bobcat.
or I guess I should say the Bobcat looks a lot like the Colt .25

It wasn't a target pistol, wasn't meant to be,
it's for 'Social Work' (as in conversation distance)

That you were punching good groups (most people can't even get on the paper at that range)
Is a tribute to both you, and that pistol.

Cool gun....As far as the round goes, I shot at a squirrel on time with a .25 ACP. He caught the bullet in his mouth and ran off.:D
