Son was given a Colt MK IV/Series 80 Mustang 380 Auto. The magazine was jammed in. After getting the magazine out, I found the exactor was in the wrong position. Was able to find instructions to correct. Magazine still wanted to hang when inserted.

I determine from another thread the sear was incorrectly installed. I reinstalled the sear correctly and now the hammer will not stay cocked. I have verified that the extractor and sear are in properly. The crossbar on the trigger is in front of the mainspring left side and behind the mainspring right side. The sear tail is behind the trigger crossbar as is the extractor. Sear and extractor appear to be undamaged. I can push sear into place to cock.

Any ideas go the issue?

Thanks
Allen

The extractor position or the ejector position, the extractor shouldn't move, maybe it could clock, is that what you are referring to? The extractor shouldn't effect the magazine, but if the ejector is down that might. (?)
I have two of that type, it sounds like the sear has been effected some way, if you know someone in your area with another one maybe you can compare, otherwise your local gunsmith may need to look it over. I'd carefully disassemble it and reassemble it until the lightbulb came on, it's hard to say without seeing it.
