Hi all,
first post here for me.
I have wanted a Colt Anaconda 4" in .44 magnum for the longest time, should have gotten one when Colt was still producing them. Since I live in California would I still be able to get a used one? I see a lot of the internet gun auction sites will not sell these to California. what can I expect to pay for a NIB, or Excellent condition Anaconda if I find one? I did try to buy a Ruger Alaskan in .454 for over a month with my local gun store but the owner finally admitted to me that his distributor told him they have not had any Alaskans for over 2 months. also thought about a S&W mountain gun, would the Smith be easier to find perhaps?

my two cents

They are now making the colt double action revolvers again. To me they are WAY overpriced! What happened was colt decided they were going to stop making their double action revolvers and other models. Colt anaconda's used to be high $500 (well in Michigan anyways), when Colt announced they were going to stop making them gunshops were asking $1,000 for them. The funny thing is people are now getting these new Colts and they are still asking $1,000 and the gun hasn't changed. My favorite gunshop has two in stock at that price and they have already marked them down $100. You can buy what you want, but with that price for just the colt you could get a Smith 629 w/ a red dot or scope (plus smiths come drilled and tapped). The ruger would also be a good choice, but I have heard they are real hand cannons. That doesn't bother me since I have a 460:evil:

the thing about the Alaskan in .454 is that I could shoot .45 Colts out of it also, but if there are none available............might have to run around to all the local gun shops to see who has what. I had not heard that Colt was making the DA revolvers again. will check into that too.

460

Since you are talking about 454 and 45lc, have you ever thought about the smith and wesson 460? It will shoot those two rounds as well as the 460. They make it in a four inch also I think. You can have a lot of fun with this model. 460 is not that much more kick than 454, just my two cents!

Hey S&W man, When was this announced ???? Do you have an article or something pertaining to this ? Is it a reliable source ?
Colt just announced early this year that they will NO LONGER be making any double action wheelguns.
That's why everything is jumping price wise.

Jeff thanks for setting me straight! I usually make a mistake once a day:) I don't follow Colt very much, not much of a fan. I guess I was just thinking about the first time they stopped and then remade them, which was a while ago. I hope I didn't get anyone excited. One thing I am still certain on is they are over priced even if they have stopped making them. Like I said my two cents.

I don`t think you can import an anaconda into CA, I had one for sale and a guy in CA wanted it, but found out it could not be sent to Ca.

if it was a 4" barrel then it was probably me that inquired about the Anaconda. kicking myself in the rear for not getting one when they were available!

Colt stopped making all revolvers on the production line. A few models, including the Anaconda, were then made in the Custom Shop. It was then that the Anaconda price went up to $1000.

If the Anaconda is overpriced then what's with the prices of the M460 you are recommending?

Sorry guys but I couldn't help myself to post my favorite bear gun when camping on black bear territory.

It is shown here with my BEAR KIT, perimeter alarms and of course my MAG 951 modified flashlight (the most powerful in the world).

About the price for the Anaconda? it is not for sale.

I think I know where this is heading Majic, and I don't want to get into a word debate. I have seen this before with posting quotes of the other person, and then people starting to show who knows more (or I could be taking your post the wrong way). You might be a colt lover and it doesn't matter to me, it is a free country. I just gave my two cents, and I was going with what atavuss was talking about. Wanting to shoot either Colt 44 mag or the ruger alaskan which he said he wasn't able to get. He also mentioned wanting to shoot 454 and 45lc, and to me it just made sense to suggest the 460. why not be able to shoot three different rounds than one? I don't live in his state, he might be able to get the 460. Like I said just my two cents:D
