Colt Anaconda

I wanted one in .45 Colt. Just couldn't stand to fork over $1000 once they started coming out of the custom shop. Nice gun. I do wish they'd put them back into standard production along with the Magnum Carry.

Sombody say Anaconda in .45 Colt?

Majic,

Are those custom grips or some special order Colt grips? I've been looking for similar grips for my Anaconda for years. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Litework, I found those stocks at the gunshow in The Showplace (Richmond) years ago. I don't remember the manufactor, but I pulled them and they have a model or size number of "12" handwritten inside. I will continue to hunt around and if I find out who made them I will pass the info along to you.
I haven't seen any like them since as I wanted a set for my Python. I remember the dealer only having a few pairs and they were for the Anaconda and King Cobra grip frame. It was just one of those lucky finds as there weren't many wood stocks available for the Anaconda at that time.

Thanks Majic! Don't go out of your way though. I'm going to do a search myself. If I find any that are even closely resemble the ones you have, I'm buying them. They really are nice. I've been to the Richmond show a few times; I'm about two hours away.

The Anaconda has been rated to handle loads the same as the Rugers by some. They are big and tough revolvers. When the Anaconda first came out the .44mag was considered by some as one of the most accurate production revolvers on the market. They were just unfairly seen as a Python on steriods and considered weak by many. They are actually designed after the King Cobra which itself is a very strong .357mag. They have never sold very well I think due to this perception, but those who did buy them seem to like theirs. I have had mine over 10 years with not a bit of trouble (except for finding wood stocks and holsters for it). I have pushed mine a few times with some hot 325 grainers. It took them in stride, but I wish I could say the same thing about me.
