Does anyone know when Colt stopped shipping Combat Commander pistols in the brown cardboard box with the styrofoam insert and when they started shipping in the blue plastic boxes? Just trying to figure out if any Series 80s would have been shipped in the brown cardboard box. Thanks for your time and knowldege. Happy Thanksgiving!

Absolutely. I think if it were an early one from the '83 intro. of the 80 system up until sometime around 1987/88, then yes. The end flap would have the gun info on a computer-printed label with data and s/n matching the gun. I can't recall exactly when the boxes went from paper to plastic, but it was in the 88 to 90 range I think.
