Colt detective prices

Found a nice nickel finished 3rd issue Colt detective at a local shop, mechan, cally perfect, no box, and used very little. I have no clue what has happened to Colt prices lately, but I'd like to know what a fair price might be.

I have seen them go anywhere from $800 to $1200 depending on condition and what comes with it.
I picked up one several weeks ago in like new condition with no box or paperwork for $850. From your description it sounds very similar to what you described.
You can check the colt forum and pick up some good info there.

One thing is for sure, old Colts are going up in price, what you pay for one today will be worth more tomorrow.

They are running around 800$ when I see them lately.

The market price increases are shocking. I bought a blued one last year for $550 that had a storage mark on the bluing which probably made in 96%. It appeared to be unfired to me or at least there was no cylinder drag trace.

Most gun store pricing still seems to be in full panic mode.

$600 would be my top provided it has original grips.
