Hi folks. I just purchased a NIB Colt Gold Cup Trophy. The gun shoots very well, although the Elliason rear sight broke within the first 75 shots. Colt sent me a new one rather quickly. My question is: What is an acceptable slide to frame clearance? There seems to be more play at the rear of the slide. Without setting up an indicator to measure play, I'd say there is anywhere from .003 to .005" at the rear of slide and frame in side to side play. Virtually no up and down play. Is that normal? Fit and finish on the gun is excellent and I've had no FTF in roughly 500 rds. I'd hate to send this gun back to Colt
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Barrel to slide fit is much more important than slide to frame fit if accuracy is your concern. If the gun is accurate, don't worry about it. (Sounds pretty tight as it is.)
