Anybody have any info or links on how to detail strip (and then reassemble) a Colt .380 Gov't model?

I just sold mine, and took it out for a final spin to burn last 35 rounds of ammo. Hammer is "following" slide as it goes into battery, and not resetting. I "think" one of the sear spring leafs is putting to much or too little pressure on what looks like the sear.

I'm pretty sure the buyer will be less than amused with either a non-working gun, or a delayed transaction, so any help appreciated. Thanks!

There is a book on the dis-assembly of the autoloading pistols I picked up at Barnes and Noble. It has the colt gov 380 in it. It is a big book, lots of pictures and covers many different types of autoloaders. Its title is something to the effect of dis-assembly of autoloading pistols. Sorry I cannot be more accurate. Memory fades.

My bet is pull the grips off and clean the tar out of it. I bet you got some powder jamed down in it.

I love mine and am looking for another if your sale falls through....

Thanks Peter!

I'm ready to declare myself a basement gunsmith wannabe!

Detail stripped and cleaned the heck (I'd use a stronger term, but this IS THR!) out of it. There was some gunk binding the sear and ejector, and some gunk in the hammer notch. Clean as a whistle now, lubed up, and everything checks out and functions manually. This pistol was "doubling" occasionally. I think the gunk might have been contributing to slam fires. We'll see.

I'll test fire in the morning (for some reason my wife doesn't want me shooting off the back porch at night!) and report in. Thanks!
