I finally took the plunge to do a detail cleaning of my Charles Daly 1911 A-1 EFS. When I removed the sear pin I wasn't looking carefully to the position of all of the parts the sear and disconnector fell out along with what appears to be the lower sear lever. On reassembly, I can't see what position to put the lower sear lever is in, although I know it sits to the right of the sear, if looking at the rear of the gun. There doesn't seem to be any other linking parts or levers for this piece to interact with. This is not a Series 80 style 1911. If I let the lever rest on the back of the trigger bow, the grip safety won't fit correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated as my CD sits in pieces on the bench. I also don't want to gamble with an incorrect reassembly that would cause a malfunction or injury.

My guess is that, the part is just a spacer. I've heard some CD's using Colt Series 80 frame. Since it doesn't have a firing pin safety, that part serves no purpose, except as a spacer. Just put it back together with that part included. Put it in such a way that it doesn't block the grip safety tab. Then do the pencil test for firing pin function. With the unloaded gun pointing upward, insert a pencil eraser point first, then cock and pul the trigger, if the pencil shoot out of the barrel, you're good to go. Or call CD and ask them. I've heard they have very good customer support. Good luck!
