OK guys. I may have found the 22 auto I've been looking for but I'm not that familiar with it.

It is a stainless semiauto Colt in 22lr. On the barrel it says "COLT 22." It has the slide release on the left side and the magazine release over the trigger on the right. I've searched the net and havent found much, even gun broker, so maybe you guys can help. The only one on gunbroker was a "NRA special."

It is in excellent condition for $350. It feels wonderful in the hand and when hand cycling the slide, it feels like silk.

Good deal, no deal. Any info would be nice. I plan on using it as a range gun with some time in the field as a tree rat gun.

I've had mine since 1993. It is a great pistol. You may find more info about them under the name "Colt Cadet". Unfortunately, Colt quit making these several years ago. You can still get mags for them, because the Beretta Neos is a very similar pistol and the Neos mags interchange perfectly with these Colts.

Mine has been very reliable and super accurate. I really like it. I think I got it for a little over $200 brand new. $350 sounds pretty high to me, especially considering the price of other comparable guns like the Browning Buckmark.

Thanks for the info. I looked in the "Blue Book" and it lists it at $225 for excellent condition. I guess I can offer $200 and see what they say.

As far as the Neos magazines. Have you personally done this or have you only heard of using these magazines?

I have a chance at a Colt Cadet but should I?

MY local gun shop has a fairly nice Colt Cadet for around $200 to $225. They also have a very nice Ruger 22/45 in the same price range.
Now what do I do? I love .22's of all kinds and sort of collect/shoot them. I "gather" or collect them because I like them and I like to shoot them for fun. What should I do...might have to have just one,,, not my choice but you know other constraints.....

The only complaint I've heard about these Colts is the mag release is easy to accidently actuate when the pistol is holstered. That is hearsay, but I've heard it enough to at least want to bring it up. Other than that, they are reported to be accurate, fun shooters.

utgopher, there are many more Ruger 22/45s out there than there are Colt Cadets. I can't say good or bad about the Colt, but you aren't as likely to find another as you are the Ruger. For that price you could probably try it out and sell it to get a Ruger if you don't like it.

They used to rent those Colt .22 autoloaders at a range in Orlando back in the 1990's. I remember shooting one and found it to be a smooth & reliable gun.

The price of anything marked "Colt" is soaring through the roof today. Even so, $350 is a bit more than I'd pay.
