I saw one of these little buggers at the Birch Run Ggun show a couple weeks ago, and am curious what a fair price on these is?

It looked to be in very good condition, but quite frankly I was too busy admiring how small this little beauty was than I was with examining wear on it.

I walked out the door with a NIB 642 instead for $398 OTD, but it was a very attractive pistol, and $525 doesn't seem too unreasonable for an older pocket auto that is no longer produced.

Is that a decent price? I've never had the chance to shoot one before, and I'm not sure I like the idea of a SA pistol in a pocket holster, but this one is still on my radar.
 
Well I can't say if it's a fair price, but they go for that and up around here. I've seen them priced as high as $600 locally.
 
Did u get this Mustang? If it is the alum alloy frame with the stainless steel slide, which is the pocketlite version then that is a good deal, I would buy it myself. still not bad for any version of the Colt mustang.
 
I've priced them at around 650 and 700 when i was looking at them before. Quick question... is the birch run gun show in birch run michigan? If so i had no idea they had one there, and i'd like to know more about it:) If you wouldn't mind sending a pm my way so as not to derail your thread anymore than i already have.
 
I paid 350 for a 98% 3years ago. Now everybody wants one and have driven the price way to high. Their a nice little 380 but not 5 to 600 nice. I saw a stainles with a feed ramp that looked like a plowed field wanted 650. :eek:
I keep looking for a 2nd I have a good supply of spare parts. But Iam not going over 400 to425.
 
I bought one a several years ago at a pawn shop for ~$400. I think the reason I got it cheap was that it came with an ugly blemish the size of a 5¢ piece on the slide. Functions just fine though. They are nice pistols.
 
I bought my Colt Mustang Pocket-lite brand new 10 years ago for 350.00. I paid 300 for some real elephant ivory grips.

I love it. The problem is, I never use it for anything. I carry a S&W Centennial revolver every day. For backup, a Glock 19.
 
The pcoket lite is a wonderful little carry pistol. Super flat and only about 12 oz, fast relaods and 7 shot capacity. Shoot a good fmj load and it'll probably bail you out if needed. I bought two of them (which I still have) about 12 years ago for whatever dealer price was back then--probably only around $225.00.

If I carry one, it is carried in a pocket and it is cocked and locked, which is a personal choice that many would disagree with. These would be great ankle holster and vest pocket guns.
 
I bought one plus ammo about 12 years ago for under $300. I may have run 100 rounds through it. I haven't shot it for a few years now.

I like it, but i just don't have much reason to carry it these days.
 
I bought the standard version for $275 N.I.B. around 1985. I fired fewer than 50 rounds through it and sold it about 10 years ago for $275. I wish I had it back.:cuss:
 
I bought a Mustang Pocketlite new back in 1997??. I didn't like the idea of cocked and locked in my pocket :eek: so I traded it in on a Pony Pocketlite (DAO version) and I still have it today. It doesn't get out much anymore, but I'm glad I still have it. I can't believe how much $$ these are going for :what:

IMO the price for Mustangs is nutz nowadays. If I didn't have one already I would never think of paying the $500-$600 for one. I can get an original PPK or a Series 70 .45 for that much coin.

That being said, the Mustang is a great little gun. You won't be disappointed if you buy one.

Funny, I paid right around that for my Government .380 SS Pocketlite, about 3 years ago as well. I think it might have been $325 OTD.

I never shoot it but with the collector value being what it is I just can't part with it. I think I'm going to fit a C&S extended thumb safety on it and take it to the range every now and then for fun. Might even use it as a beginner pistol for teaching new shooters.
 
Don't you people consider inflation? Ten years ago, gas was $1.25 a gallon, houses were averaging $80,000 to $100,000....
I love my Pony Lite, the double action only type, with no safety, fits into my front pocket, and with one in the chamber, can be drawn and fired faster than all these cannons everyone else carrys....
Bought mine before CCW here, for $300 like new!
Heck, my other guns, went up 2 to 4 times what I bought them new for!!!
 
Paid $400.00 for my pocketlite a year ago and more recently paid $475. for the moly steel MK IV Series 80 Mustang.
 
I bought the all-steel one when they first came out. absolute Colt quality and cycles all the various loads I've tried. locked-breech(not blowback) and SA trigger crispness. I keep one in the chamber with hammer down. easy to thumb the hammer back with your shootin' hand. I've shot my buddy's pocketlite but the alloy frame doesn't have the blued-steel finish that I like. few years ago I almost sold it and upon real close inspection the buyer thought there was under 50rds through it. I told him more like 3-4 boxes of ammo. he said the rails showed zero wear. maybe because they're steel instead of alloy.
anyhow... I put the wolfe upgrade kit into it because I never liked the plastic guide rod under the barrel. the kit also has a single recoil spring instead of the twin springs which makes it hand-cycle smoother but with the same tension as original. oddly this gun is the smallest in my collection but has the highest replacement cost. just proves size doesn't equal worth.
