Saw one of these at a local shop yesterday. Don't know much about them except they supposed to be hard to find. Looks to be in very good condition with original box. Anyone have any experience with this gun? As always, thanks in advance for your input.

I like those old mustangs and ponys. Is it stainless or blue? They can be rather expensive considering what they are.

If it is DAO, it is a Pony, not a Mustang. The Mustang is SA and has a thumb safety.

I had a Pony and sold it. I did not like the horrendous trigger pull, the fact that the trigger pin walked out on occasion, that the gun rattled (loose slide to frame fit), or the fact that I had trouble shooting it well. It was my pocket gun for a while, but when I found Kahrs, I unloaded the Pony for the last time.

The Mustang uses the same mags, but is a much more nifty gun in my opinion and the SA trigger makes it easier to shoot well. Unless either has after market sights, the sights aren't great, but are functional.

I sold my mustang, single action. The recoil springs need to be replaced quite often, mine fired fine, but I did some reading "this is about ten yrs ago", and the article and the dealer also said that the springs needed to be replaced at some rediculous time frame, like once or twice per year, even if not fired. That was it for me, I sold it for what I paid for it. By the way there is a gun show in Ft Lauderdale, "Suncoast" this weekend, if any Florida boys are bored

$550 sounds a bit high to me, but these are getting harder to find and prices are going up, up, up!

Like others in this thread, I prefer the single action Mustang to the DA Pony. Note that the sights are puny on either model, so that may be something you want to upgrade in the future.

They are well made and very concealable carry guns. Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

Hello, I have a Colt SS,MKIV Gov series 80 380 auto which is SA and a tad larger than the Mustang. It shoots great, is as accurate and reliableas either my P232 or Bersa T with far less recoil since it's not a blowback system. I also have a Colt SS Pony DA which is accurate, reliable and has a terrible trigger bu still fun to shoot and also has very little recoil. I probably put 25 - 50 rounds through them both a month and have never had to replace the springs on either. However i keep a couple spares just in case. lol
If you can get that little ss pony for $550 you had better jump all over it because they'r going for anywhere from $750 -900 bucks around here. I saw a Mustang and a Pony at the gun show last weekend here in Orlando and both were in that in that price range.
Regardless, I love those two little pistols and they pocket very nicelly.
My two.....

That's not a bad price, as I've seen them going for $600+ around here. Check it out; if everything seems to be on the plus side, you might want to consider it, if that's what you're looking for. But for that kind of money, you could also look at something a bit more potent like a Kahr.
