I just heard that Colt is coming out with a new Mustnag, and while I am exicted about that, I found an old Mustang in my local pawn shop.

It's in pretty good shape, got some wear marks, but overall seems pretty clean. Cycles smooth and the trigger feels decent.

What you reckon one of these in decent shape is worth? Are they decent guns? I've heard that parts can be tough to find though...

Opinions?

I believe the old Mustangs had issues, mostly magazine related. Atleast i seem to remember reading that somewhere.

The re-issue COLT MUSTANG POCKETLIGHT is already out. I saw one at the last gunshow here in VA. Priced at $699.

I have an orginal one, blued that I paid $450 for used, no discernable wear with 1 mag (1st desgin 5rnd) and no box. This was purchased in 2011.

The orginal 5rnd mag is flawless with all ammo.

I bought 2 new COLT 6rnd mags (from COLT) that so far only work 100% with ball ammo in my gun. I've been using the Federal "Wal-Mart red box" ball and Federal LE 90gr Hydra Shock ammo. I had a good stash of PPU ball but it was so dirty that I sold it.

Back in the 90's my best friend had a stainless COLT Mustang Pocketlight that was flawless with all ammo. He paid $375 back in like 1997ish. We shot that gun alot for fun and I can't remmber us ever having a problem with it other than rear sight comming loose and requiring me to stake it in place.

With the new ones availiable for sale and COLT making them on new CNC machinery with better internal parts than the orginals I would think the orginals are worth less than a new one.

The new one I saw was flawless... not a tool mark or casting line to be seen anywhere. Very nice and well fitted.

I think $400-$600 for a used orginal is fair - depending on condition.

I have a blue and nickle Mustangs They are good shooting little pistols I not had any trouble Except on blue I bought a steel guide rod and this caused problems , I went back to the plastic rod and problems gone.
Some had weak mag release spring. Wolff really no help But its a easy fix.
