Colt Mustang Questions

I see you can still find some of these guns at gunbroker.com for brand new, and they run about $500-600. I don't really know that much about them, I did a search here and found out some info. I do have some other questions though.

I understand they stopped making them a few years ago, so that makes them more sought after for that reason alone. But are they functionally sound guns, are they reliable? Does anyone have any specs on them as well? Like weight, length, height, etc. Also what are the different mustang models, and what are their differences?

I'm fairly intrigued by them, since I won't buy a kel-tec .380, and from pics the Colt looks pretty small. Although I just bought a Seecamp, and now a S&W 342PD, so it may be a little bit of time before I can get one of these if I decide to. So many guns, so little time and money!

Yes, they are reliable and the aluminum frame ones are light. They are single action, except for the Pony, which is the most sought after model for CCW carry. They fit nicely in the front pocket of a pair of jeans, and are great carry guns...they quit making them in 1999, to focus on their government contracts.....I saw a Pony in Oshgosh for $400, like new, too bad I am from out of state, or would have bought it.....

I never owned one. I've read many times that they recoil less than most .380's because they operate with a locked breech (instead of blowback). I do not know how reliable they are. The Pocketlite model weighs 12-13 ounces. It is a single action pistol. In a holster it can be carried cocked and locked (round in the chamber, hammer cocked, safety on). In a pocket... either with an empty chamber and hammer down or "possibly" with a round in the chamber and hammer down. Do not carry in the last condition I mentioned unless you feel completely comfortable doing so.

I ve owned a Mustang for a while and there a great pocket pistol Mine is not a pocket lite I don t find the few more oz. a problem When I carry its in a Don Hume pocket holster. or there IWB. These are great little pistols and I wish Colt would make them again. Mine used to be my main carry,but I switched to a PPK/S a while back(always wanted a PPK/S) Mustang is smaller and lighter and has less recoil and a lot better trigger. Mustang over all is a little larger than your Seecamp.
