I scored Colt New Service Yesterday. It has been re-built, blued, chambered to 45 LC and real Ivory Grips. I will post a pic when I pick it up.

I had one, a 1909 Army Colt .45. Robust revolver and pretty accurate too. The Army had a special ctg. built for it as they wanted a wider rim for more positive extraction. Regular .45 colt brass would not dump the empties as the gun should have. I sold it for a pretty penny though. Kinda miss that old girl, but, well, I've never been much on Colt revolvers - S & W is my cup of tea.

Mine was made in 1906 and had been reblued, with most of the markings almost buffed out. Since it wasn't a collector's item anymore, I put on a new 1/8" wide front sight and opened up the rear notch to compensate. It's a real fine shooter.

Mine is pretty much original, except for having elk horn grips. It's in .455 Eley caliber, shoots into about 2 inches at 25 yds. I love it!

I've got one from 1916 in .45 LC. It may have been reblued, but is in excellent shape and is a real shooter. Got it for $375 earlier this year and think I got a bargain.

You got a bargain indeed. And personally, I'd rather have a shooter than a pristine collector's piece. There's something disrespectful about not shooting an old gun.

By the way, the New Service is much stronger than the SAA, and beginning in 1903, they heat-treated the cylinders. I don't recommend abusing them, but they can take any standard load in your reloading manual with ease.

With all due respect Vern, I am not so sure about that.:scrutiny:

Vern, how good to hear from you. I will probably load up my BP loads for it, and probably a bunch with Trailboss powder. I'll get a report in the Spring as I am coaching wrestling for one last season.
