Now have 3 sets of grip panels for this Colt Officer Model in 38 special. The ones that came on it were correct Colt but I don't believe for the model or age. I bought a pair of used Pachmayr Presentations for cheap and I really like those. Nice big fat and comfy.
I was looking at the checkered walnut ones made in Thailand on eBay and decided to give them a shot because the factory originals are really expensive if you can find them and these are a pretty good copy. The fit isn't great and I had to sand a little to get them to mount. There is a bit of a gap at the top round interface but not terrible. The gold Colt medallions are OK. They ran around $50 delivered and took about 6 weeks to float across the Pacific.
I can tell though I will want the Pachs for serious shooting. The checkers look good but not that comfortable. Haven't even shot it yet with them but the feel is not as good. They are smaller, slimmer, and the edges are sharp. The Pachs are big fat and comfy and look pretty good as well. But, still fun to change them out on occasion.
