Colt Smith Colt Smith Colt Smith

I'd have done the pre-27. I want a SA revolver, but other than my black powder revolvers, I'm more of a DA revolver shooter. So, if the pre-27 is gone, I'd likely get the S&W 29.

Since you're building up a nice collection...

My favorites are my good S&W DA revolvers. The Rugers SA's and Match Champion are nice, too. You seem to be working on all of those very well.

My second favorites are the milsurp and LE trade-ins that I've gotten dirt cheap over the years. The $200 Star Super B's, and BM's, and Beretta 81's were absolutely fabulous deals a few years back. Also a nice Sig, nice Glock. nice S&W M&P, etc. I'm more of a revolver guy, but I've been very grateful to pick up those solid service pistols when they show up. Lots of times board members will let us know about deals like that.

Just a hint. I really enjoy your posts and your enthusiasm. :)

thanks!!! last Saturday was a world wind and I couldn’t make up my mind and missed out on the pre-27. it’s like when you go to a old school Vegas buffets and don’t know were to start. Lobster? King Crab? Prime Ribs? or fancy Blue Fin tuna.

Just piping in that if you look at stand alone prices for S&W wooden boxes they are pretty pricy. Add in the gun with original grips it's not a bad price. I paid $1200 for my 29-2 with wooden presentation box that came with all the proper tools. If the tools are missing I'd say it's overpriced.

what kindda tools did your box come with?

The presentation box liner will have slots for three different tools. Cleaning rode, cleaning brush and screwdriver. It adds to the collectability of the box/gun.
I like presentation boxes with cool tools! THANKS! will take a look sometime this week. Do you shoot yours? I would - a lot too

I'm a sucker for the Model 29-2! The blued steel is my favorite, but they look sooooo nice in that shiny nickle plate as well!

I have been shooting the heck out of my own Model 29-2 recently, now that I started reloading my own 44Mag. 13gr of Blue Dot under a 240gr bullet makes for a nice satisfying thumper, without being punishing on the hand or the gun.
