Colt Snubbies?

A buddy of mine was out at the range today with his Colt that is only 7 yrs. old, and he just had to have the timing works re-done

What model of Colt DA revolver does your buddy have that is only 7 years old?

As far as the timing issues with the older style actions go, that stuff is by and large over exaggerated. Colt used that action for many decades. If it had been as problematic as some people would lead you to believe it wouldn't have been manufactured nearly as long.

I was at the range today and ran 300 158 gr LSWC Magnums thru my 1974 Python. She eats like that regularly and still runs like a Swiss watch. I don't worry about wearing it out or it needing a tune up. If and when it does, I'll send it back to Colt. They work on them everyday.

When my dad passed, I inherited his daily carry Detective Special. This is the gun he qualified with (hundreds of rounds every year), and carried from '74 till he retired from law enforcement in '07. Lots of holster wear, but still tight as a drum.

vanfunk,

you are sweeping against the tide.

some folks ignore reality and believe what they want to believe...it is no use trying to use facts.

I know, Guillermo, but we must at least TRY. There's so much misinformation out there, re-told again and again, that we just have to keep the truth torches burning.

But wait, there's a hidden advantage to all these cliches about Colts going out of time - if these old wives' tales keep people from buying them, there'll be more for you and me to enjoy!:)

Maybe we should spread the misinformation to run the prices down!!!

COLT DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVERS HAVE ACTIONS MADE OF GLASS!!!!

AND GLASS IS MIM!!!

COLT HID AN INTERNAL LOCK ON ALL THEIR REVOLVERS!!!!

THEY ARE ONLY IN TIME UNTIL THE EXPIRATION DATE WHICH IS ONE MONTH AFTER PRODUCTION!!!! (unless the gun was refrigerated which would extend its life by a month or two)

About the Colt's wearing out of time. A buddy of mine was out at the range today with his Colt that is only 7 yrs. old, and he just had to have the timing works re-done and he doesn't shoot all that much, he isn't a reloader.
Colt hasn't made snubbies for a lot of years -- much more than seven. See if you can get the serial number of that gun (substitute Xs for the last two or three digits) and we'll look up when it was made.
