Good afternoon,

I was wondering if anyone had any information on or could assist me in obtaining the general specifications for the Colt Texas Paterson revolver?

I'm building a wooden replica of the firearm for my younger sister and would like it to be as close to authentic size as I can.

A little background - My younger sister is a big fan of the t.v. show "Supernatural". In this show, a modified Colt Texas Paterson is used to dispatch daemons and other ghouls. Since purchasing a real or replica model is out of the question, building one (there are no licensed replica products for the show) is my best bet.

If anyone has any general specifications (other than OAL and barrel length) I would much appreciate it. Thanks!

go to google patents website, and do a search for the colt patterson patent data. its roughly 7 sheets long. has everything you need to know how it operates and is put togetehr for hte most part.
the scale of the drawings is a little off when you print it. therefore youll need to take it do gingkos and have them do multiple enlargements of it untill you get it to print the barrel to the right length. then you have pretty good blueprints for it. then its jsut getting online again and downloading a uberti manual for it and some part diagrams. and then its cut wood.

I've seen printed Blueprints for early COLT Cap and Ball Revolvers on e-bay...so, you might do well to look there...

the ebay blueprints are colt walker and 51 navy. apparently drawn by a machinist in the 60s who had access to original weapons.

Might check over in the Black Powder section.. some of them fellers don't leave the scent of the Holy Black too often...

pohill, articap or madcratebuilder should be able to help you..

There's a "Supernatural" Replica that's currently temporarily out of stock and "pre-sold out". Maybe you can get on the list for the next batch.

And there's a rather amazing collection of working Colt replica revolvers that have been carved out of wood.

Here's photos of the collection and another link to information:

the toy they show isnt a single exact colt handgun going by proportions. teh grip is slightly reminescent of the later pocket pistols.

the wedge seems to be installed walker style from the right side. the frame and cylinder and barrel themselves seem awful like the 2nd or 3rd model dragoon.

That "Paterson" looks an awful lot like a Colt Navy.

Sure does. Looks like a mirror image - or they could have just reversed the negative to make the wedge go in from the right instead of the left.

On second glance, it can't be a reversed negative, the capping cut in the recoil sheild is visible. It's just one of them pot metal fake guns that bear little resemblence to the real thing.

Looks like a 1851 Navy with engraving to me but since the wedge is on the wrong side it tells me that they did what Cabelas does a lot on flipping the negative.

I saw that episode...Im not a big fan, but saw the preview where they were gonna use an old colt gun....watched it..and the gun they used was indeed a patterson, maybe a "put together hollywood style" paterson, but it wasnt the navy they showin in that prop store...thats a whole different gun from the one I saw em use in that episode.

thats the thing about hollywood. sell what they want to sell as prop toys and not what they actually have on show.
remember a tv show on a steampunk jules verne were they sold prop guns that had parts that the show prop didnt.
