I have a Colt Trooper in Satin Nickel. I really dont know anything about the production figures, or whether or not this one is rare because of the Satin Nickel finish or not. I have been scouring different resources since I got it and was wondering if anyone here knows anything more about it. I have these combat grips as well as what I believe are the original Presentation grips with the Colt logo. I have never seen another Trooper MKIII with the satin nickel.

I'm a Smith and Ruger person and know almost nothing about Colts, but your nickel Trooper, I like. Very nice.

Electroless nickel Troopers (some refer to it as satin nickel) are fairly rare or at least uncommon. I have been looking for one in 22LR for a while.

I believe that the electroless nickel finish offered by Colt was also referred to as Coltguard. At one time, all three finishes, blue, bright nickel, and electroless nickel, were available on most models. Whereas bright nickel was about $20 more than a blued model, the Coltguard finish was $30 more. At the time, I also thought that the Coltguard finish served as a marketing bridge until Colt could start producing guns in stainless steel. At any rate your Trooper Mk.III is one very nice looking revolver.
