Here's some pics of my 1908 Colt .25 auto. The serial number puts it at 1926 for a mfg.date.

I know what Jeff Cooper had to say about .25 autos...don't think he was ever shot with one though. :scrutiny:

Better than carrying nothing, and conceals so easily.

It's difficult to say as it usually depends on the condition. :scrutiny:

Do a search on GunBroker under semi auto handguns for "Colt .25" and you'll get an idea from bottom to top end regarding how condition relates to $'s on the Colt Vest Pocket 1908 Pistols.

The Colt Junior .25's are also bringing higher $'s than in the past.

that one is in great shape. Outstanding pictures too. I wish somebody still made an all steel, high quality. 25 like that colt/browning or the baby browning that came along a bit later.

the guy who carries this is a retired texas state trooper/special ranger who has his own ideas about things. He has seen enough to consider the .38 special 158 grain RN to be quite effective.

While I love the older Colt Model 1908 and the Baby Browning, when I think "mousegun", I always think of my Astra Cub in .22 Short.

I like the Browning .25 and the Astra .22...probably eventually get one of each as I like pocket sized handguns.

.22 Short hollow points out of that Astra would not be a fun thing on the receiving end. :what:

The older Astra Firecat's .25's are cool looking too.

Cocked & Locked,
Class act indeed!

I agree 110% sir!
Very nice Browning btw and again, I too know quite a few Professionals that feel the 158 lrn is quite effective.

Anyone have a Bauer stainless copy of the Browning? I read they are not very reliable...anyone know?
I had one about 30 years ago. It was good for one shot at at ime only. A local gunsmith said it couldnt be made to work. It also rusted rather easily.
thre is something tantalizing in the upcomming American Handgunner. The article on the web page has a picture of a somewhat browning looking pocket pistol and some language about " rare and Jewelllike" Bar-sto .25 acp. couldn't tell if it's a fix up or a new low production item.

Walther Model 5

Check out a Walther model 5 .25acp(same time period) I have one and it shoots great and is in 90% condition. I paid $400 for it but I really wanted it and they are REAL hard to find. I certainly wouldn't want to get shot with it but it not my carry piece,. I prefer something larger.

My Bauer had galling isues, something many early ss guns had. My friend had a old Colt like that but I never did get to shoot it. Strangely, at my local swapmeet they sell airsoft clones of this .25acp Colt for $1! I guess they didn't look cool enough to the kiddies.

I bought 3,kept one and it didn't work well, gave the other two to friends who are pleased with them.

Thought it was a very strange gun for the Chinese to clone as an airsoft.

Old Colt pocket pistols are so beautiful! I want all of them ... 25 ACP, 32 ACP, and the old middleweight granddaddy, 38 APC (which I think came out with one of the 1903s). Wouldn't it be nice if every little pistol that looked so fine and precise shot as well as it looked?

Also, I think it's cool that Colt's decided to tell us every patent that goes into the thing, right there on the slide!

C&L, tell us more about the hat and the cosh. I thought the latter was a blackjack at first, and then I decided it was a riding crop. What kind of hat is it? Can't quite place the style.
