Colt woodsman match target

I just saw a Colt woodsman match target at the pawnshop for $900

It is in beautiful condition much like the one pictured.

Looking to the auction sites I noticed they run $850 to $995


Is this gun worth it?

I fired one about 20 years ago and thought it was really nice but I'm not sure if I want to drop a grand for a .22 auto

Any comments on this gun?

Back about 1976 or so, I bought a Colt Match Target Woodsman
(second model) NIB for less than $300. You asked, "is it worth
the high price that you mentioned"? IMHO, very much well worth
it; considering the high cost of most Colt's this day and
time. The Match Target Woodsman (all series) are known as
being tack drivers; running neck N' neck with the other kid on
the block, the Smith N' Wesson model 41. If I had the cash
and were in your shoes, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it!

*FootNote: dependent upon condition of course; but for a 98
per center or better you are gonna have to cough up high
dollars.

Is this gun worth it?

Only you can decide that: is it worth that much money to you?

I've been looking for a Woodsman Match Target well over a decade. I've found some sorely abused guns, some grossly overpriced guns, but no well maintained guns at reasonable prices.

If you're buying it as a shooter, you need to know it's probably going to be extremely difficult to find match-type stocks. Mounting a scope should be somewhat easier.

I went back to the pawnshop and bought it for $850

It is in 100% unfired condition with the box.

It has a beautiful mirror like finish.

judging by your photo it looked like a 6-1/2" 2nd series with wood grips ?

Brand new it would have come with 2 mags, instruction phamphlet, colt screw driver and a thingy that screws to the backstrap for big hand guys.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Ahhhh my all time favorire .22 Semi-auto.

It has been a dream all of my life to own one before I die.
And looking at the prices of them at the last Colt Collectors Convention I almost had a heart attack.

The Colt Woodsman Match Target has always been a high priced pistol.
And it appears that it will stay that way.
