I'm not making this up...I listen to Savage sometimes for comedic value, plus he is a great story teller. Anyway he was advertising a special deal for "Savage listeners only," you can get a chrome slide Kel-Tec 380 with Crimson Trace laser, inscribed with the date the 2A was written (1791).

There is a site for it, http://www.freedom1791.com/

MSRP is $600, not sure what it will actually go for. You also get 2 mags and a stainless belt clip.

Kinda cool looking...

Even though he is a self styled 'libertarian', I figured he had been in the bay area so long that there was no way that he would be a supporter of rkba. neat gun package though.

Wait, wasn't he hating on the 2nd Amendment a few months back? Something about wishing "assualt rifles" to be banned?

I'm not a fan, but Michael Weiner claimed to have a Glock once when I listened to the show a few years back. Aside from that I know nothing about his 2nd stance.

Here is a fascinating article about Savage/Weiner:

http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2003/03/05/savage/index.html

I agree with Cosmoline, he is more of a performance artist...the sad thing is those sycophants who call him and say "Michael, I must say, you are the most brilliant public intellectual of our times" and he just sucks up the kissing up. Eyuk.

I don't find the gun package particularly appealing, but it is kind of neat in its own way. Kel tec could do more with their brand...they are all American and make a good product IMO.

I won't be buying a Kel-Tec anytime soon due to this. Savage is a loon who will say anything to make a buck.

For "Savage Listeners Only"? I swear I've been hearing those ads on Glenn Beck also....

I'm not a big Savage fan, but he would certainly be more "gun friendly" than those that write for, and follow "salon.com".

JTQ, they actually do a decent job of having some conservatives on that site. Much of it is non-political anyway. Did you even read the article? It doesn't really matter whether the person who wrote it is pro or anti-gun.

BTW, I don't really care who gets this or doesn't...doesn't sound like it's necessarily that good a deal if it is going to go for $600 (that would be like paying $270 for the engraving, laser, and an extra mag and a belt clip). Just thought I'd put it out here for comments and hear your opinions.

I doubt very seriously Kel-Tec had anything at all to do with it, and more then likely didn't even know about it.
He just happened to pick that gun to do his thing on.

If Kel-Tec were going to offer "packages" or engraving from the factory like this, they would already have done it at some point in time, and they haven't.

This is funny to me. Kel-Tec is one of the cheapest handguns out there. They are functional but I think of them as a disposible guns. It is like selling a custom Geo Metro twice the price its is worth.

I believe Michael Savage is a believer in the "never again" mentality of no more Jewish Holocausts -or any other kind of holocausts. I have caught a radio broadcast where he advocated shooting "Nazis" in the face at the door if they ever came for your family. I think that he honestly believes in gun rights for everyone.

Too bad the "deal" that he's attached his name to isn't legal for sale in the state (CA) that he lives in. Kel-Tec pistols do not meet CA "safety standards".

I don't know about that. The website link above brings you right to Keltecs website.

I personally would not like this on a pocket gun that will get screwed up through use. Put it on a nice Beretta M9 or 1911. Something really nice that will already get taken care of, Keltecs are great and a P3AT resides in my pocket as I type this but they are a work guns, not well cared for valued pieces.

I actually like Michael Savage. Sure he says some off the wall stuff from time to time, but he's on the radio and the more emotion (good or bad) he can invoke from listeners the better off he is. I don't think he's quite as irrational as he sometimes seems.

I think that P3AT is a great looking gun but I don't think I could bring myself to pay close to $600 for one of those. Maybe if I were able to get one for $400...

I do like that he picked a gun like the P3AT to advertise though. I think that it shows not only his belief in the RKBA but also that he supports concealed carry as a gun that size is obviously made with one thing in mind.

Oop's! I see I was sadly mistaken!

Myself, I'm going to hold out for the Jim Zumbo Edition PLR-16!

Yeah, Savage definitely waves the flag around when it pleases him. But I suppose he does have a huge listenership, and judging from his callers he can probably sell 5000 guns. As others said his self-congratulation quickly reaches saturation, showing a lack of maturation and amounting to nothing more than...well, you get the picture ;)

fireside44, if you are referring to the rhetorical question posted in a January or February thread on this site, I think that is taking those out of context...on the other hand, listening intermittently I've not really heard him approach the issue from either side.

Savage had it on his website that he suddenly thought "assault weapons" should be banned after that whacko Vietnamese guy shot a bunch of folks back east somewhere. In other words logic went right out the window, tossed out by "the brilliant" Savage.

I don't pay any attention to him anymore, and even back when I did it was hard to take all the self aggrandizement he constantly engaged in. Anyone who constantly draws attention to his "brilliance" probably doesn't have enough of it to realize that he's making a braggart of himself. :barf:

Well, it's not that surprising really. If you read that article I posted you may have noticed that he used to be super-lefty, not just your average liberal. One of his old friends, Lawrence Ferlenghetti, thinks he is just a brilliant performer who figured out you can make a buck by being right-wing.

He makes the occasional good point, but then he goes back to "panic mode" about Obama. The time for that was pre-election, not post-election. Calling the president names is not doing anything, and that's about all Savage does. If he would speak seriously about organizing in any meaningful way he could get some stuff done, and I would take him more seriously.

I take that back. He did talk about organizing a trip to Britain with 1000 of his listeners if they would unban him. Why did Britain ban him? I have no idea. Probably the best thing to happen to his career yet.
