A good friend of mine recently inherited a number of firearms from a relative and one in particular has me a bit curious. At first I thought it was simply one of millions of sporterized Mausers out in the world. But in one of the pictures he sent me I noticed that it has a receiver mounted safety and the bolt in turn doesn't look like your run of the mill 98's.
Right now my laptop is being repaired and dont know how to post pics via my smart phone so all I can do is tell you what I can see from the pics. The bolt has CBR stamped on the top and on the left side of the bolt is a stamping of a small drooping flower (ive seen this stamping somewhere before but I dont remember exactly where) and under the flower is 269.The receiver has a rather crude serial number that appers to be electro penciled on, other than that the firearm has no other markings that ive seen. Its chambered in 3006, thou it isn't marked as such. The rifle has been in his family since the 60's and it is in really good shape. Whoever sporterized it took their time and turned out a nice rifle.
when the laptop gets back from the shop ill post pics. Any thoughts? That drooping flower stamping is really bugging me, ive seen it before but ive nearly worn out Google searching for proofmarks and acceptance stampings.
