I just got a Springfield Armory "GI" 1911 .45. It's the compact three inch barreled model with the 6 round mag. The wood grips that came with it are very pretty, but this is a carry gun ant I've always had mych better luck with synthetics when the gun is pressed up against my sweaty hide.

What are my options with synthetic replacement grips? I know that there are a number of companies that make synthetic replacement grips fore the full-sized Governemnt and Commander grip frames, but what about the six-shot compact?

Thanks!

I have nothing but good to say about my VZ GatorBack grips. They feel like a thin-grip, but they give you some serious traction!

I always love micarta, but they get dirty, and the looks bug some people. A friend just got the alumagrips. Very, very cool, but I do not have any shooting time with them yet. The checkering suprised me, The tops are all cut off, so they don't poke into your hand. Instead, just the diamond shapes and their sharp edges onto the flat give the grip.

One note, alumagrips do NOT come with short screws and bushings. In fact, its not immediately clear which ones fit. If anyone knows, please tell.

Do not consider rubber under any circumstances.
