Tikka T3 has a great reputation for quality and accuracy.
Savage 10FP has a great reputation as a good buy with decent performance and unlimited improvability.
Remington 750 is the latest in a long line of semiauto hunting rifles of absolutely no interest to me.

Savage 10fp, Great accuracy but you will probably end up switching the stock. Its not as expsensive either MORE AMMO

Remington 750, Havent shot one yet but all the semi-auto remingtons that I have shot are extremely inaccurate. You do good to get 6MOA out of them

I have had mine for about 4 years. It's super accurate out of the box, the action is tight and the build quality is tops. Put some money into a good scope and you are ready to go shootin...

I did some work to the trigger, now that I think back. That's all....

The Tikka's are all long actions that have blocked mags for short chambers like the .308. Personally I think it's pretty lame. Additionally the Tikka better be perfect in your eyes because there's no aftermarket to help you out.

The Savage rifles are truly accurate beasties. I own a 10FP and I love the accuracy. That being said, the ejector pin on mine is flaky causing many frustrating failures to eject. After consulting a gunsmith he determined that the ejector pin diameter is smaller than those on Remingtons. This requires an accompanying smaller spring which is why it fails to push forcefully enough to serve it's purpose reliably. The accu-triggers are nice however they can't be lowered to thier minimum without the risk of the bolt decocking when worked quickly. One often ignored standard feature on the 10FP that I feel is awesome is the enlarged bolt knob. The added leverage and larger surface area make working the action at speed noticably easier.

The Remington semiautos have been largely ignored by the hunting public and their press. I once read a review of one that was pitted against the finest Springfield Armory M1A and the humble Remington beat out the SA in accuracy. Sure I know it's not going to be popular but I'd wager the Remington is a very sound buy and will render perfectly acceptable accuracy for a hunting rifle. That 6MOA comment earlier sounds like someone's shooting 20 shot groups...

I love rifles, I like Rem's, Savage, Ruger but my two favorite makers are CZ and Tikka. You can't go wrong with a Tikka or a CZ and their resale value is typically better than Savage. Just my opinion of course.

Remington Model 750. Over priced replacement for the 7400.
Savage Model 10FP. Best bang for your buck.

I have a pre-Accutrigger 10FP. There really isn't anything good you can say about Savage's factory plastic stock. I like the gun otherwise, but once you put another $200 into a good stock it's not nearly the bargain it looked like.

If I were doing it again, I'd take a look at the CZ 550 with the HS Precision stock.

I can't speak for the Tikka or the Remington as I have not used either.

The first and only Savage I ever purchased had the synthetic stock and like you I thought it was about the cheesiest stock I had ever felt. It almost seemed like it belonged on a toy. This was several years ago so they may be of different quality now. The savage was a very good shooter though but I couldn't get over the cheap appearance the stock and over all looks so I sold it. When I purchased my first CZ I knew right away that I had made a good decision, It was well made, felt good and was quality in every way. I have purchaseed several more since than. It was a hard decision for me to consider the Tikka for my next rifle instead of a CZ but I had read so many good things about the Tikka that I just had to try one out. I am not disappointed at all!!! I love my trusty old Rem 700BDL too but it doesn't have anything over on the triggers or accuracy of my CZ's or Tikka.

Choosing a new rifle is fun and hard all at once but do your research and you'll make a good decision.

The tikka is a nice rifle, but depending on budget the 10fp is brobably the better buy, I have one with the john plaster stock, you can crank up or down a knob in the back to raise or lower the poa comes in handy when shooting off of a bipod at long ranges, i have been able to get 175gr sierras handloaded over varget to hit within 1" at 200yds with 5 shot groups and the accutrigger is probably the best factory trigger i have fired. the downside is the gun is HEAVY. low recoil at the bench, pain to carry into the woods, I have fired the CZ's and like them alot, but you have to push the trigger forward to engage the light "target mode" on each shot which gets old.

After going through a few different brands to find the right ammo, I can say the 750 works rather well for me. I still need to practice a bit.

I didn't care for the trigger on the last Savage bolt action .308 I tried; and the groups were fairly open at 100 yds. Still, I wasn't trying to find the right ammo either; just shooting what the owner brought to the table.

IIRC, Didn't Tikka get a reaming in one of the recent Gun Test issues?
