Man who surprised burglars shot and killed

A 27-year-old man was shot and killed early today when he returned home after an evening out and apparently surprised burglars at his Missouri City home.

The man, whose name has not been released, was shot just after parking in his driveway in the 7400 block of Castleview, police said.

The burglar or burglars fled after the shooting. Police said the front door of the home had been kicked in and the house ransacked. Investigators asked that anyone with information about the incident call them at 713-308-3600, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Be alert out there! A CCW is only half the equipment.

When it comes to life-threatening situations, walking in on a burglary in progress is right up at the top of the list.

One good reason to carry a gun is so you'll have it when you approach your own front door.

Came within an ace of walking in on a rape in a stop & rob. Saw the guy in the lot but thought he was playing around, trying to scare the gal reading the pumps. Made my purchase and left. Got an EMS call to respond to a rape there 15 min later.White male, 5"10" brown hair, average build, 20 yrs old. Lotta help. Rats!

This is another reason I own a dog. If someone breaks in while I'm gone they will either run from my dog as he is VERY agressive or he will kill my dog. If he kills my dog I will know something is wrong because when I usually come home I can hear him whining when I get near the door. He has seperation anxiety.
