I was checking out prices last week and nearly had a heart attack. My favorite X-treme RNFP copper plated 158 gr bullets have gone from $62 to $80 in less than 6 months.

I haven't had a chance to check with the local gun club where they sell powder and primers at 6% over cost, but am preparing myself for the worst. Haven't purchased either in over a year.

they are getting up there. bulk keeps it reasonable. i picked up some magtech primers for 12.99 per k for christmas, haven't shot them yet but at that price im gonna remain hopeful.

i have only been reloading a short while ( 2 years maybe?) but powder seems to be the most stable as far as prices go.

Yes, prices are shooting up.

trickyasafox,

You're going to be happy with those primers, but even they have now shot up to $16/K from Midway using the Crufferl's discount.

It's not looking pretty out there fellas, I am moving more and more to casting my own and the search is on to get a wheel weight supply before the commies, I mean Democrats, take over the country.

There is a gun shop by me that sells Winchester small pistol primers for $29 per 1K. I guess you know where I don't buy them.

I'm just getting started, but I ordered primers from Midway recently and they charged me a Hazmat shipping fee of $20 per UPS. That was more than the primers cost! What's the secret, gun shows?

K96771,

Buy in bulk with a minimum order of 5000. Get two or three buddies together to order in a group buy. That way you split the hazmat and shipping between several guys. Also, get a guy with a Cruffler's license to order, since he can get dealer pricing from Midway. All these things reduce your out of pocket costs.

Regards,

Dave

Try Powder Valley for primer and powder orders, especially if you can get your #'s up by sharing a shipment with another reloader. Powder really has been stable. Although, Titegroup went up her a while back. The last Varget I got was 120 OTD.

Primers UFDA! I got sleeve for 100 bucks plus tax before Xmas.

Bullets at Cabelas
45cal 230gr FMJ was like about 80 per k, then went to 90 per K, and now is 100 per K. I still like Cabelas for their shipping is based on $ value no wt.

A good idea for jackete bullets is Precision Delta, http://www.precisiondelta.com/

The include the frt in their price.

Comodity prices have supposedly stabilized, but there were increases across the boad.

I started this thread when I almost had a heart attack finding that bullets had gone up 30% in price.

The tendency toward heart attack was compounded when I began figuring the cost of reloading with the new bullet price and came up with $10/50 rounds. All this time I thought I was producing them for something in the range of $4/50 rnds. Thirty percent increase in bullet cost wouldn't take the price up that much so had I been miscalculating all along? :uhoh:

Deep depression sat in.

Well, after I calmed down and recalculated a week later I realized that I had misplaced the decimal point for the cost of powder, calculating on 48 gr in the .38 spl (say WHAT? :what: ) rather than the actual 4.8 gr (thassa nice  ). All this comes out to about $5/50 rnd and all is well with the world. :D
