Hey all...

So i'm at that point where I have a little bit of everything (4 semi auto handguns in .380, 9mm, .40, and .45), an AR-15, .22 rifle, and a 12 gauge shotgun.

My box of cleaning supplies is getting a little out of control and disorganized.

I am looking for thoughts/recommendations on those kits you see in Gander, Cabelas, etc that clean "everything". Just looking for something nice and organized with its own case to take the hassle out of digging through 2 tool boxes of stuff.

Thanks.

P.S. something to supplement the boresnakes i have for each caliber.

build your own....

I strongly recommend building your own kit. If you need to be portable[ requirement for me], get a tackle box or tool box, and fill it with your favorite, trusted cleaners, lubes, and rust preventatives. Then, with the cleaning aids you like....

Examples of things in my kit[ I'm heavy on shotgun use, followed by handgun and rifle......

Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner- GREAT STUFF!

Weapon Shield CLP- Great general purpose lube/rust prevent.

Couple of different greases----still looking for my favorite, its down to Weaponshield Lithium, or Sentry Solutions Moky Grease.

12 ga boresnake

12 ga chamber brush on dedicated short rod.

"Grey" scotchbrite pad.

Pachmyer 1911 multi-tool.

Assorted punches for selected shotguns.

The list goes on.........

I got one at wally world and it has basically for everything and so far it has worked fine for me and I have handguns and rifles, no shotguns yet though

Those are probably a pretty good deal, until you get a .17 caliber something.
They use some bastard metric? thread on the .17 brushes, and nobody sells replacement brushes that fit them.

Anyway, I would suggest you buy American made rods and/ or kits so you can get standard thread replacement brushes at Wally-World and such.

I use a big double-sided plastic fishing tackle box for cleaning supplies.
Plenty of room to add stuff as you need it, and easy to keep different size brushes & tips separated by caliber.

I second building your own. The kits are usually filled with items you will never use. By making it custom, you will always have what you need and can add accordingly. Also, you have the chance to buy better quality components.

You may also want to check out the Otis rifle/pistol kit. Very versatile and everything is packed in a neat little 4 or 5" case. Great kits. We still have a few in-stock.

Good luck
