Just to let yall know ahead of time im very new to reloading so im still learning the basics.

Ok im using 17.8g of Accurate 5744 powder, LC brass and Barnes M/LE 150g bullets. It says this will be a compressed load and seeing ive never loaded any that I know of I thought I would ask yall a few questions.
With the powder in the case it appears that it will be compressed roughly 3/16-1/4". Is this normal for compressed loads? It calls for the OAL to be 2.15
I dont even know what questions to ask so any tips would be appreciated. The powder load comes up to the shoulder. Heres a pic of the finished product and one of the bullets to compare with.

Compressed is just that - squished a bit. How much compression is a function of how much case volume is consumed by the powder vs how deep the bullet is seated. If you are following the load data then the amount of compression you are seeing is undoubtedly normal (assuming they didn't mess up the information).

Don't over think this. That can lead to far too much agony later.

Compressed loads only become an issue when either you choose a powder that cannot accept compression (trail boss) or you dont have enough neck tension to hold the bullet seated. The same thing happens in the opposite direction of normal setback, they grow. If you overload a case you can mangle the bullet trying to compress powder. End up with nice rings on your bullets.

Love the last line and it definitely applies here.:) While I couldnt find load data for that specific bullet I did find data for that specific type and weight of bullet so I think im ok here.
Thanks for the info folks ;)

If it isn't compressed enough to affect bullet seating your ok. If the bullet wants to spring back up, that's no good. AA 5744 is very bulky, even though it is a good burn rate for 300 BLK, you won't get top velocities, can't get enough in.
