Concealed Carry and the spare Magazine

If you can't take a strong opinion on a silly board, how will you fight Mr. Bad guy when he comes to get you?
I don't have a problem with sarcasm. Frankly, I'm just about the most sarcastic guy I know. I also know the difference between sarcasm, mockery and rudeness.

I usually carry a NAA 32ACP as my only weapon most of the time. (My choice for my situation.) I carry 2 spare mags in my weak side back pocket in a mag carrier that I made from a piece of heavy vinyl. It keeps my mags and ammo clean and dry in back pocket carry even in 98 degrees and 98% humidity. Sometimes I carry 2 - 6 round mags and sometimes 1 - 10 round and 1- 6 round. One of the reasons I carry a 32 is that I can have as many as 4 - 10 round mags in my weak side rear pocket.

Extra ammo prepares you to:
1. be ready for ammo related problem.
2. be ready for mag realted problem
3. Be ready for multiple assailants, especially if you are behind cover.
4. carry different kinds of ammo for shooting through barricades, etc.
5. Lay down enough fire to keep heads down while you move to or from cover.
6. be ready for a protracted, standoff-type situation.

Nearly every LEO in the country and every soilder in every army in the world is REQUIRED to carry spare mags and ammo for good reason.

For a few ounces that I never even know is there, and especially since I carry a less lethal round which will proably require multiple rounds on target, 2 or even 4 spare mags go in my back pocket when I carry the gun (i.e everyday).

Best Regards to all,

Whew!

It sure seems that there are some subjects that are a bit touchier than others.:p

Since I'm too old to fight and too tired to run...I carry. I don't anticipate
trouble, but try to prepare for the worst, so I carry one gun. I've always
been of the mindset that if my problem ain't solved in 4-5 rounds, it's real
likely that it's in God's hands from that point on.

That bein' said...I carry a spare magazine on my belt , and not because I
think that I'll run dry in the middle of a firefight. I don't intend to
engage in a runnin' gun battle with anybody, and if I have to go for my gun,
my plan is to hit him and back out as quick as my tired old legs will move.
I've done the firefight thing, and lemme tell ya...It ain't all it's cracked up to be.

I carry one because:
A...It's easy to do...so why not?

B...Even though I do everything that I can to make sure I won't have a
mag-related malfunction before I can solve my problem...there's this
guy named Murphy that follows me around.

C...There's the small chance that I'll be in the coffee aisle down at the
Piggly-Wiggly and a hit-and-run robbery team will be between me and the door, and I don't want to get killed for lack of ammo.

D...If I deck the BG and get out, as per my plan...I want the pistol to
be topped off. It comforts me.

Now, before anybody lights into me for my shoot, duck, and run attitude...
I don't mean that I'd split and leave the remaining members of the staff
down at the Piggly-Wiggly at the mercy of the hit team. I'd surely seek
cover and be on hand to try to block their escape...but the task of clearing
the room is better left to the police who are on the way en masse. THEY
can't tell the good guys from the bad when they roll in, and I don't want
to get shot by those fellas either. All they'll know is: "Robbery in
progress...Shots fired...Man down. Off-duty cops have been killed by
other cops who couldn't tell the players without a program.

The object of the exercise is to survive. The arm-chair commandos who
have visions of taking out the bad guys and getting a commendation from
they mayor for a job well done are kidding themselves.

Just my nickel's worth...

I've been considering carrying a backup gun. I usually carry a Kel-Tec P11. It's so small and light that carrying another wouldn't be hard. And at less than $300, the price isn't prohibitive.
