George Rains was also one of the leaders of plant operation during the war. He also contributed many things to the Confederacy's powder industry, such as purification of saltpeter before it was milled in.

sounds like that man knew his powder. Man if we could have just tapped into his knowledge for a few hours on THR wow

It was also Rains who suggested that families save the contents of their chamberpots and give them to the state so saltpeter can be isolated from the waste.
Over a third of the Confederacy's powder in the last years of the War were made this way.

It is extremely coincidential that the Chinese People's Liberation Army also used this technique to produce large amounts of black powder during the Motherland Liberation War of 1946-1949.

It is a long story, but I have to go in a few minutes, but I will tell you the story in the near future.
