Confiscated Firearms to be Returned?

Don't hold your breath thinking you'll get a gun back.

My sons home was burgled...they stole two guns. He did all the proper steps...filed with local police...serial numbers....even photos.

Three years later a letter arrives. "Your gun was recovered" Hot dog! Lets go start the process to get it back!

Metro Police..." yes, we did take your gun from an arrested felon. In fact only two months after it was stolen. No, you can't have it...you didn't respond within the proper six month deadline. The gun was melted."

Son pointed out the date on the letter and the post mark cancellation....three day delay! OOPS!

His chat with Metro Legal produced an apology...and a check...but no gun.

We had no recourse for the other gun. Never heard anything about it.

If your gun is stolen, just move on. Go buy something better. IF...big if...it ever comes back, just consider it a miracle piece and smile!

Mark.

ps: I do realize this is not ALWAYS the way it happens. However, I don't expect the proverbial happy ending.

Yale - since the NRA doesn't do anything, you must be the one that got the legislation to never allow that same "confiscation" again! Thanks for that.

confi???

the ones who dont know any thing about the NRA dont belong and I am glad as I dont want them as members:fire::fire:
I have been a member since 1939,and They are not organized to do the court thing.only since the attack on guns recently they had to set up the ILA
as they are prohibited from politics.they were are set up for record keeping of shooting records.and they dont get the millions that Soto sends to anti gunners.
as for the guns in NEW ORLEANS they are junk, some are in cases and rotted clear thru.the police all over the country are known for their light fingers.there are a few honest cops, but not many.:uhoh::rolleyes::fire::banghead::cuss:
