Referencing load info from Sierra, 223 case length is diagramed as being 1.760. Test specifications shows trim to length of 1.750. I have a quantity of 223 brass that has been shot and resized numerous times with lengths below that. The brass I have been using is Federal, from the 100 round bulk pack. Is this brass uncommonly resistant to stretch? Also, how much of an issue might I see if I use load data Sierra with a shorter case?

Thanks in advance.

Brass can be short and still safe, SAAMI lists a minimum length of 1.730" The standard trim to lenght is 1.750"

Many factors come into play, not just the brass. If you dont have to trim, injoy.

If the COL is not changed, the load data will be the same pressure wise. The shorter neck would give less neck tension, but not enough to worry about.

Some brass is shorter than others, and cases stretch less if the pressure is low.

Trim all sized brass to 1.750. If it is shorter, that's just fine. I would not worry unless the case was less than 1.740, and even then I wouldn't worry much.

Variations of case stretch where the brass doesn't flow as much is common. I load with H110 for all my magnum revolver's, and some brass won't reach a trim too length for several loadings. Same is true for high powered rifle with out any obvious reason.
