confused about sr1911 prices

I actually paid (IIRC) $635 for the gun in December last year. I actually DROSd it on December 14. Could have been $610 if I'd paid by check. What brought it to $800-ish was shipping, taxes & fees. We overpay for everything in this state. :cuss:

Some places charge more because they can. Demand > Supply. I'd been trying to get my hands on one since they came out.

FWIW I had no interest in any Kimbers nor South American stuff.
This is true and is the problem now. Trying to obtain an RIA for $500 now is no more if you can even find it and then it will cost more. Yes we pay more for everything in the Republik gasoline especially:mad:

Not just there...online too. Someone can afford to pay $850 for a $650 gun and will do so if it's instock and available rather than waiting to find it cheaper

If I have to wait another year for a RIA .45 ACP Tactical I will. I am not going to spend over $500 for this gun or more for any other gun that has been marked up because of this panic buying.
One year ago it wasn't like this even when we had that so called ammo shortage.

It's supply and demand. There isn't a bigger Ruger fanboy than me, but I had to wait well over a year to find the one I bought. I could have paid a considerable amount more, but I waited, and I got one right around $650 or so, which is correct street price +/- 30 or 50 bucks in my opinion.

It's just supply and demand. When that pistol doesn't sell for $1000, the price will get lowered and there you go.

wHAT has this country become? I used to be able to pick out a gun in the showcase display then decide if I wanted this model then I could get a fresh NIB one in the back. Most of these places now only keep what they have on display saying they can't afford to keep alot of guns in stock. Perhaps big businesses like Cabela's or Bass Pro might be able to keep a large stock. Sportsmen warehouse display cases are empty.

Me neither. No me gusta.

I just met a guy in an ammo swap that wanted to show me his new pistol. It was the Commander Model Ruger 1911. It is a nice pistol and had a great trigger. He paid " a little over $900" for it from an out of state dealer and was happy to get it. I've been looking at the Citadel Compact for $600 and if I can find the Ruger for a little more, I'm going for the Ruger.

Again, only a single Ruger 1911 at the gun show today. $800

And no, it's not because of the gun shortage. They have always been over $800 here (at least the ones I've been able to find).
