Ruger SR911 or Remington R1? What do you hate and like about them?

I love my SR 1911. Feels great, recoil is smooth, shoots better than I do, and is reliable. I have used Ruger CS before and they were nice, prompt and got my gun back ahead of schedule. Plus the stainless finish is beautiful. I have about 2500 rounds through it and its like butter...

Nice to see yours operates correctly.

Not sure why the ones I've handled had that issue, but they do. If I were in the market for an R1, I'd just buy one that was smooth like yours.

Currently my LGS has two R1's--a stainless and a black version. The stainless slide hangs up, the black one is smooth as glass.

I have been on my LGS's list for a Ruger SR1911 since they came out almost three years ago. That's okay, I have a few 1911s, so it's not the end of the world. If I wanted to pay $700+ (or $800+) for one, I could have gone that route.

Just saw my first one in the flesh at the gun show last weekend...it was priced somewhere above $800, so I took a glance and moved along.
Looked every bit as good in person as it does in pictures.

I have seen a bunch of the R1s and they don't impress me at all.

As a lefty I wish either had an ambi safety. That would be great for us lefty's.

I gave up waiting and bought the first one for $780.00 in trade + cash. Then I found my second one for $550.00 - so that kinda evens things out.

Right? :uhoh:

I wonder if Remington is now learning the stainless steel galling lessons S&W learned in the 70s...

I haven't heard or read anything of this being an issue with the R1S.
Any sources that you would like to share?

Greg

My stainless R1 slide operates with no issues. Love the gun BTW

sr911

A friend gave me a half box of lfn .45 handloads and the local range has had a SR911 for about 5 months. While loading the gun , I see the most dirty -BLACK insides I've ever seem ! It was so bad I didnt think it load or shoot, it ran great + shot good groups!!! The rage owner says "We dont clean any range guns untill they quit working" lol lol I believe him!!!
