I'm purchasing a ak-47 from:
http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1722

I'm trying to research that ak-47, I don't even know who makes it, or the country of origin. I've seen the same one on Guns america for sale and they had it as a "Romanian 7.62x39 AK-47" I googled for romanian ak and cannot find this model. If anyone has any information on this I would love it. Is it a good ak? If not what is a well crafted ak? How accurate is this model? is it worth the money they're offering it for? The furniture on this is going to be replaced as is the butt and grip, with a T6 folding/colapsable, and a quad rail system, and top cover is going to be replaced with this: http://dpharms.com/ak-scope-mount-mnt970-p-263.html?osCsid=bf3f8e1f792d3397131ae2d9485ef204 - will this fit the rifle im buying?

Holy crap that is an ugly AK. Is that a sidefolding stock or a crutch handle

I bought a Century Arms, Romanian AK Hi-Cap this past February. Paid
$450 including tax, at a gun show. I Know that is higher than some, but
I was able to hand pick from a few. I've shot the heck out of it, without
any problems. Mags are somewhat loose because of the bored out mag
well on the stamped receiver. Mine has the wood stocks and look really
sharp. Look out for canted front and rear sights, straight barrel, etc..
I must have lucked out, I could'nt complain. I'd buy another one, but my
wife would shoot me with my Bushmaster.:uhoh:

Semper Fi!!

It appears to be a modified Romanian WASR rifle.

Note the lack of a magazine "dimple" on the receiver.
This is a feature of Romanian rifles which are manufactured in Romania as single stack rifles, then altered to double stack by the American importer.

Those are based on the Champion pistols Cugir is making now.

They have standard rear tangs and silver soldered muzzle extensions for legality.

The Crapco rear stock has to go. They look much better with a Romanian wire side folder on 'em.

Justin, keep in mind most if not all the 'normal' AK's are not new, but refurbished and transformed into semi-auto's.

If you want a NEW one, buy a Saiga for $300 and do the conversion yourself. Put whatever parts you want on there, not what some company thinks looks cool.

My parts are on the way, can't wait.

WASRs and Arsenals and Saigas are made from all new parts.

Perhaps you are referring to the kit guns being produced by Vector, ORF, Lancaster and others...

AK

Why would anyone want to put a scope on a AK? They are not exactly accurate no matter how well they are made. If you want to spray bullets at targets than an AK is for you but you cannot get good groups with themwhich makes them about useless for hunting. If you want a semi auto that is accurate you are gonna have to get an M-14 or AR-15. By the way, accurate to me is less than .75 inch at 200yrds. AKs are about 2 inch at 100yrds. so if that doesn't bother you than have fun, I have an AK for just plinking and love it for that but I would never waste a scope on it, I would rather put it on a pelet gun.

I'd get a Romanian G Code AK from classicarms.us if I were you. You at least get a muzzle brake with that one rather than having a drilled out barrel.
