I listened to Jim March on the way back from West End Gun Club tonight after shooting my rifles. He did a good job. Very enthusiastic and credible.

Jim March

Funny....I heard the same program and thought he came off badly. Words like do hickey, thingie and strapped do nothing for our cause.

xcop,

At least he is out there doing something. I'd wager a bet that there aren't too many folks in CA that have offered up the time and sacrifice that Jim has for the RKBA cause. You should be grateful.

Greg

March

I see no reason to be grateful. His recent visits to KFI and the Comedy Channel set us back. He doesnt come off well..Uses slang language instead of articulating himself well. Since I doubt you heard the broadcast in Florida ask yourself this......since I am a gunowner, shooter,NRA member as well as a member of the California Rifle and Pistol association what do you think the anti's thought of his performance? Think he changes any anti minds? His heart may be in the right spot but he strikes me as the wrong person.

Well there you have it folks. Somebody with no profile calling a man who has worked for firearm owners rights worthless. Especially in a state where fighting for gun rights is looked upon as ludicrus. I just love election years when things crawl out from under rocks that shouldn't.

tape

Do youself a favor and get a copy of the show from KFI radio. But get a tape not a transcript. You are assuming he speaks as well as he types and unfortunately it isnt true.

I thought the show was great. Jim was extremely well informed of what really mattered.....the facts. Even correcting the host on the name of the chicken farm some friend of a friend of one of the Sheriffs was connected to, and who had abused the CCW system.

He spoke just fine, better than most and he kept the discussion very interesting and didn't drone on about statistics and mindnumbing rhetoric. In fact, I would say he is a better public speaker than President Bush.

Just because he may not have the delivery of a gameshow host doesn't mean squat. In fact I think it gives him more credibilty. He is not some smooth talking salesman trying to charm his way into your emotions with empty arguments and fluff talk.

Good job Jim....keep us posted on when you are out there again. KFI is a great station as well and I knew you would get on there one day! If you can convince the guys from the Jon and Ken show of your cause, they will go 100% all out untill we get CCW. I think they are at this time however, simply uninformed about the issue.

The way I see it, we don't have much to lose in the PRK. So if Jim gets on the radio and can talk candidly about our efforts, hey what the heck, what do we have to lose? So he isn't a polished politician, but he can speak his mind and the people we usually call idiots in the greater Los Angeles area can relate to his less than polished pitch. No matter how Jim comes across, we need to support each other rather than tear each other apart. We need to stay unified and just quit nit picking each other so much. You do what you do for the 2nd and I will do what I do for the 2nd. And lets be happy we are doing something.

As far as constructive critism goes, speak your peace xcop about his radio appearence and leave it at that. I think brining up the Comedy Central thing shows there is more here than meets the eye. Maybe Jim will hear you and polish up a bit more. Maybe he won't. You did all you can do Xcop now lets move on.

And as far as Anti's go, they thought he was a baby killing maniac. Big deal, they always think that. The question is, what did the apathetic surbanites think of him? That is who we need to get to not necessarily buy guns, but to at least not care if we do or not.

Who were the announcers when he was on? I missed it :(

"John and Ken" in the evening drive, before they went off the air a few years ago, were decidedly anti gun. I have not listened to their show since they came back on the air. I don't have a radio in the my truck so I miss a lot of stuff.

Sounds like you all in California have a volunteer to go on the next radio show, too.

Good deal, Jim. You keep right on doing what you do..and thank you for doing it.

I have conversed with Jim for years on many occations. I never met him, but there is no stronger supporter of the RKBA than Jim.
Way to go Jim!!!

Wow, I missed it!

Was this previously announced? Anyways, hoping there is a rebroadcast.

Thanks for speaking out Jim, and don't worry about the critic, whose
objective is ultimately to shut up the people they criticize, under the guise
of "it's for the common good".

cheers, ab

More thanks to Jim for defending our RKBA, exposing fraud in the CCW system, and raising awareness about the problems in e-voting.

Is there a transcript of the KFI show available? I tried KFI's website but couldn't find anything.

There IS supposed to be an archive available online, but I can't find out until Monday.

OK. There's actually a reason I used "doohickey" to talk about things on the end of the barrel. The reality is that NONE of them have a really significant effect on a SEMI auto in a moderate caliber like 223, 7.62x39, etc. (Once you hit .308/30-06 horsepower, different story.)

The real practical purpose is to protect the muzzle crown (and accuracy) if you drop it nose-down while "chasing wild pigs through an Arkansas swamp" as I think I put it.

Do some people like these things (flash suppressors, flash "hiders", muzzle brakes, etc.) for their neo-military look? Sure. Doesn't matter, and isn't something we need to get into. They make no practical difference as to lethality and THAT is what matters.

Their actual names sound "scary" to the sheeple where "doohickey that ends up protecting the barrel" doesn't. (Esp. since one of the types of "Doohickey" is GRENADE LAUNCHER, which sounds horrendous until you realize that the grenades that fit that "doohickey" don't exist anymore outside of museums and were never imported into the US.)

------------

The fact that a California approved testing lab AND the state DOJ themselves had a handgun in their possession that was legally an "assault pistol" under Calif law and still released it for sale shows the "confusion element" better than anything else I know of.

Jim really does change anti's minds

My significant co habitator was a fence sitter leaning towards her
liberal dads views, Jim came over our house to do some work upgrading my PC (and he did a lot more work then what I traded him for was worth).
He was very articulate and humorous-my GF is a member of the CA bar and difficult to convince (well she's stubborn really).
She is alot more easy going now ...
Thanks Jim! your hard work is a real blessing for us folks in the occupied territory.

I understand why Mr. March would use less than technical terms to discribe features on firearms to the uniformed,I do it myself all the time.As you deal with a individual more you can explain things in greater detail, with a group you simply must speak in broader, looser terms.

However Jim you should have let us know about the broadcast ahead of time so we could have listened, and maybe called in .

;-)

It is rare for anything Pro 2nd to be heard localy here in LA.

Sometimes, when you go all 'technical' on the terms, you end up losing the audience. And when you are doing any type of public speaking, keeping the audience's attention is #1 goal.

Okay, why do I have the feeling that xcop is MikeHaas? ;) :D :p

Jim is one of the most effective soldiers on the frontline in our fight for RKBA. I haven't heard his talk on the radio but would sure like to.

Uh, yeah Jim, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? :scrutiny:

Seriously...gives us a heads-up next time, will ya? :)

I think you should give a nod to THR by saying "frohickey" instead of "doohickey."

;)
