Consolidating the gun collection.

No, El T, I'm selling useless guns to buy equally (or even more) useless guns. ;)

F'rinstance, I can afford a fairly decent Smith collection or a fairly decent Ruger collection, but not both.

I'll still leave the tactical weaponry Iwannacoolgun stuff to you; fear not. ;)

I can see where you are coming from. It's your money so you decide. I shot for many years and invested in the best I could afford. Based on this fairly wide experience, once I found out what I really liked, I sold the ones I didn't want. Got most of my money back and bought more of what I liked. I do believe that too many calibers in one collection is a pain. Especially if you get military rifles. Why do you need a 7mm/8mm/303/308/30-06/7.5/7.62X54/7.65all virtually interchangeable and a logistics nightmare (to me).

Gotcha, Mountainpeak. NEED was a poor choice of words, WANT is the operative word. :D I didn't want twenty similar powered calibers in MY set. YMMV

Well, partner I've been there and done that on
several occassions. Grant it, its not a fun thing
to do; but sometimes you have to do what it
takes to accomplish a particular mission.

Finally, I narrowed my choices down to guns
that I shoot on a regular basis; or guns from
my collection that have great folklore or some
personal memory that I keep stored inside.:D
The only handgun from my current inventory
that I don't shoot is my late fathers 1971
Smith & Wesson 2" pinned barrel model 30,
in .32 S&W Long. Its more of a family heirloom
than anything else!:uhoh:

Mannlicher,

I see no reason to sell anything. I just keep buying more. The logistics don't bother me one bit.

Must be nice; wish I had unlimited funds, too! :)

Since I don't, when I see some new $2k gun I just can't live without, some $2k gun I have now has to go. Luckily, I'm not too all-fire attached to 'em. Easy come, easy go... :D

(PS: If by "logistics" you mean keeping bolt action milsurps in 7.7 Jap, 7.5 Swiss, 7.62x54R, 8mm Mauser, .30-'06, .30-40 Krag and 7.62x51 NATO fed, then that doesn't bother me in the slightest, either. Some of those only eat a couple of boxes a year, anyways. If by "logistics" you mean shaking loose the gelt to spring for every pre-ban FBPP that catches my eye every three months, well, then, that's a different matter; if I want the Valmet, the Beretta has to be sold. Que sera, sera. ;) )
