"The CP candidate would not win, BUT WHAT A MESSAGE WE WOULD MAKE. We could really flex our muscles that way and show how strong we are."

You'd show how strong we are by losing??

All that would show to the likes of Obama and/or Hillary is that "See, we didn't need them after all so we can do whatever we want and they are powerless to stop us."
Now, while I am inclined to be a Constitutionalist, I am also a realist. If I had my druthers, I'd rather live under a benevolent dictatorship than a malevolent one. Not much of a choice, I know, but Libertarianism or Constitutionalism, apart from "making a point" really aren't any of the choices. It's like being forced into a vegetarian restaurant and being told, "you'll have to order from the menu or else we'll decide what you get." Well, if I vote my conscience and ask for a 10 oz. ribeye, then I get stuck with cabbage, or I can at least ask for something less offensive that I can stomach like salad and a baked potato. Do I get what I wanted? No, but I still get to eat.

No thanks.

The Constitution is an instrument of Liberty.

It is an instrument of Liberty, that allows people to practice their preferred world views to the fullest extent possible, right up to the point where they start foisting their world view off on others.

It is not an instrument through which anyone, even in the name of bringing forth Good, may use the power of government to foist their worldview upon me.

I will not trade a Constitution abused to serve the neoLiberal world view for one abused to serve someone's interpretation of a select pile of holy books.

When it comes to holy books, I've read them all. I have my favorites, but none of them serve as the sound basis for either governance or public policy.

So no, the Constitution party's time has not come. And for this, I thank $DIETY.

bashing god, are we?:D

I agree that I can never support a political party that's trapped in its shell of belief, even if it does grasp some perls of wisdom.
