Controlled feed vs. push feed

Can't say I buy into the whole CRF actions are better because they feed more reliably. My PF rifles have yet to not work perfectly, and I tend to put my rifles through hell when I am hunting. I tape over the muzzle to keep the barrel clean, but the action and magazine are often covered with snow, mud, and/or vegetation. I can make my M700s not feed while upside down but I have to stop the forward progress of the bolt as soon as the cartridge is released from the magazine and shake the rifle around a bunch to get the cartridge to fall out.

More internet myth tossed around excessively. The whole PF reliability thing is overblown. There may be a slight advantage with the CRF action in reliability, but it isn't much with a decently designed and produced PF rifle. The idea that a PF bolt face surrounds the entire case head producing better accuracy is again so overblown it takes the absolute best to see a difference.

Honestly, this is one of those issues where if you have to ask, it isn't going to make a noticeable difference. I've never had a feed issue with a PF rifle and I've never had accuracy problems with well made CRF rifles. I don't shoot benchrest and I don't hunt things with big teeth or claws. Honestly, just buy one that you like the best.

That's just my point, for the vast majority of hunting requirements in N.A., a push feed is a fine choice of action. Their reliability over many years in the field is proof: yes, lol, I am enthusiastic about my Remington 700s, my 30-06 700 BDL can keep my 165 grain sierras under an inch for a 3 shot group, any time I want it to. That's fine hunting accuracy. That rifle cycles for me every time I work the bolt. I have never had a 700 fail to cycle for me on the bench or in the field. The idea that one would have to have a controlled round feed over a push feed to hunt deer, or antelope, or hogs, or black bear is incorrect. OK, sure, if I was told I had to hunt Grizzly as perhaps Armed Bear might well do; yes, I would feel very confident with a model 70 CFR in 338 magnum. I give him that 100%, no arguments. As Zak has pointed out, the Marines who operate, and who have operated in all types of environments and terrain also feel very confident with their 700 based actions, don't they now;) I certainly think there is room for both of them without the notion that one is somehow "better" than the other. Well thank God we are in America where we have the choice to choose one or the other lol!

I've had rounds hang up more often from the mags of my Lee-Enfield #4 or #5, or Mauser bolt-actions than my semi-auto SKS or Mini 30 (round for round) due to what?....

just weak magazine springs?
