Controlled feed vs Push feed?

MachIVshooter, the discussion about Winchester 70 and Remington 700 is like the discussion about Chevy and Ford, it will go on forever. I own several Remington shotguns and I think the 870 is the best shotgun on the market, for me. I apparently raised your ire when I used the word cast for the 700 receiver. I should have used words like extruded, bars stock and billet. Roger C Rule explained in his 1982 book, The Rifleman's Rifle, about the intricate procedure Winchester went through to make the Model 70. He also explained how Remington forced Winchester to go to the cheaper push feed version which came out in 1964. Winchester just couldn't make the older version profitable and since 1964 the Winchester rifle has changed manufacturers at least twice. I sold my last Remington rifle and stayed with the Winchester's and Mauser's because I liked them better. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and nothing will ever change that.
