Anyone who thinks that conventional DA’s (as a group, and Berettas specifically) can’t be shot well under pressure, hasn’t seen them shine. Found this behind a file cabinet at the office the other day, from a ’99 department qualification shoot. The RO thought it was good enough that he peeled it off and gave it to me; it was shot with my old night-sighted, bone-stock 92G Centurion. The target is a reduced silhouette and the “X†ring was 3†in diameter; “K5“ zone was just under 6†across at its widest point. Course was 84 rounds total, and ranges were from 6-50 feet, 12 in the pitch black of an underground range, with a small dash-mount red light flashing from 20 feet behind us. The course was pretty fast with lotsa 2-3 taps from the holster, and an occasional “challenge†command (requiring you to hold fire & yell Police-Freeze, instead of shooting) just as you were ready to press a string off. Great fun, all told. I could have done better on the two head shots "on command".

This same little pistol would keep 5 rounds of 9BPLE inside 4.5†@ 50 yards when I’d do my part, and it never jammed the whole time I owned it- even with cheap hi-caps. As you might have guessed, it got shot a LOT.

My PCR would have done it with its rear sight taped over, 2" group in the X ring and it was uphill both ways, to and from the range in 6' of snow while I ate dirt to stay alive......and I WAS GRATEFUL FOR THAT DIRT! :D

Dont shoot! Im kidding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I preach the glory of my Trad. DA guns all of the time...not Beretta's but CZs.

Nice shooting given the situation. Just shows you practice makes perfect or as close as Ill ever get......hmmmmmmm.

Shoot well.

Thank you both...

and PCR- I have been sorely tempted by the PO1. Is the trigger reach notably shorter on these than the standard 75? Whatever I buy will do double-duty for the Lil' Missus, so it's an issue.

Sarge, great shooting!

And you experience with the Beretta mirrors mine -- excellent accuracy. If I want to do bullseye, I will use something else, but with the proper practice the DA/SA works just fine for social situations.

Not the gun but the man behind the gun comes to mind. Any gun will do as long as you will do. Good shootin! :D
