I have a 229ST Elite in .40 with a Bar Sto 9mm conversion barrel.

The setup has been flawless through a little over 700 rounds in 9mm so far, about 100 of them being double tap ammo, and 50 being cor-bon +p I wanted to get rid of.

It's as accurate to me as my .40 barrel when shooting off hand. I have not bench-rested to test a difference between the two.

I like it because my wife's primary handgun is a P228, and so in SHTF stuff, I can change out my .40 barrel and use all of the many 9mm mags I have stashed for the P228, and the 9mm ammo I have stockpiled. I don't have .40 stockpiled past 200 rounds because I only have this 1 gun in .40 that also shoots 9mm.

I can't wait to get the .22lr conversion for the 229.

I put the Glock's in and then by mistake took it out (it was 4 in the morning).

So let's assume Other is Glock and Colt -- the two that I forgot (also the poll only allows for 16 items -- as I had more in my list )

My rule of thumb -- if finance and options are availble -- buy something in .40 or .357 (or 10mm) and then convert down with a barrel (I know that
converting uppers is lot more reliable).

Also wanted to post my summary of what Guns can be converted to what:

1. Glock in .40/.357 SIG to .375 SIG .9mm with Barrels (barsto, efk, stormlake, lonewolf
2. Glock 20 the same as Glock in .40 plus 460 rowland and .38 Super with barrel conv
3. Sig Pro .40/.357 to 9 or .40 or .357 with barrel conv
4. Sig P series .40/.357 to 9 or .40 or .357 with barrel with barrel conv
5. CZ-52 into .22 Reed Express and 9mm with barrel conv
6. XD from .40/.357 into 9, .40, .357 with barrel conv
7. Hi Power in .40 in to 9 with barrel conv
8. Beretta 96 in .40 into 9mm or .357 SIG with barrel conv
9. EAA Witness only with uppers from any to any: 9, 40, 45, 10, 38 super
10. 1911 typically with uppers. But 1911 from say FusionFirearms have barrel conversions between .40/10mm and 9/.38 super. For conversion between 9 and .38 super only barrel change and magazine change.
11. Tokarev TT33 in 7.62x25 in to 9mm, .38 super

I have converted a Romanian Tokarev TT-33 in 7.62x25 to fire 9mm Luger and 9x23 Winchester with only barrel changes and a barrel bushing. The 9x23 barrel also fires 38 Super and 9mm Largo, FWIW.

The Caliber Conversion Consists Of:

- KKM .45 ACP : 10 mm Conversion Barrel
- LWD Stainless Steel Guide Rod
- ISM 22 lb. Spring
- 10 MM Magazines

That's it!

With regard to the slides, the stock G20 slide is heavier, but the extra metal is nowhere near the firing chamber, so it's there to provide a little extra mass. I compensated for this by increasing the spring from the stock 17 lbs., to 22 lbs.

The KKM Conversion Barrel combines a 10 mm bore and fully supported firing chamber, designed to accommodate the slide's .45 ACP breach face.

While I do respect the OEM's design tolerances, you have to remember that with all the possible ammo choices, especially in 10 mm, there is a "window" of safe operating specifications, to pull this off.

The conversion has over 1000 rounds on it, and I'm pleased with it! It came in about 1/2 the cost of a new G20, all costs considered. This is fine for a caliber I don't shoot too often!

I've been shooting the Double Tap 135 grain Noslers exclusively, and do those little gems scream!

XD 40 to 10mm. Never ever to try again. It has....issues with feeding. Plus waaaaay too much machine work and mig welding, and casting of followers and end caps for mags... and breechface machining. In addition to buying spring stock for a new recoil spring, and then more for ruining the first piece by overheating.

Glock 20 in 10mm can convert to: 9mm, .40 SW, .357 SIG, 9x25 Dillon (basically .35 Magnum). I believe LWD has the 9x25 conversion barrel for the 10mm Glocks.

Glock .40 cal's can convert to 9mm and .357 SIG. To .357 is easy: Just drop the barrel in, and that's it; the magazines can stay the same on the .40 Glocks.

Glock .357 SIGs can convert to 9mm and .40; throw a .40 barrel in, and that's it.

Glock .45 ACPs can convert to .357, .40, 10mm and 9mm, I believe, with a little work, but doable. Never tried this, so if anyone can clear that up, go ahead and correct me if wrong. I know it can go to 10mm easily.

Why bother? When you can already get the 10mm in a superior package: Glock 20 (full size) with 16 round capacity, and able to convert to 9x25; or, Glock 29 (in the middle of being compact to sub compact size) with 11 round capacity.

Ask Ted Nugent how much he loves his Glock 20... I dare ya! Taking down 1000+ lb. game in Africa with it, baby!
