The .22 WMR is much, much longer than a .22LR.

I don't think that a magazine for WMR would fit in the same magwell, or that the .22WMR brass would clear the ejection port of a regular 10/22.

You can buy a Volquartsen Custom that will shoot magnums, though. Uses Ruger 77/22 Magnum magazine.

You can also buy a used one made by Ruger.
They offered a .22 Mag version of the 10/22 a few years ago.

It had a steel receiver.
Apparently the aluminum .22 RF receiver wasn't up to the task.

And apparently the steel receiver didn't solve all the problems, because they dropped it from production shortly after it was introduced.

The 10/22 magnum model was just discontinued not very long ago. I remember reading about it but don't remember the date. Ruger was not impressed with quality I remember reading.

And yes, you can convert a 10/22 to a magnum. It has been done two or three times that I remember reading about on RimFireCentral. Search for it there and you will find the threads somewhere. If I recall, it didn't sound at all worth it.
