What do you folks think of convertible revolvers? I see that there is a 9mm / 38sp / 357 Ruger Blackhawk, as well as a 45lc / 45 acp Blackhawk. Do these revolvers suffer in accuracy or anything else from this ability? Aren't there very minor differences in sizes between these compatible calibers?

What other convertible weapons would you recommend?

Hi Dubious,
I like the convertibles.
I just grafted a spare 45 ACP Blackhawk cylinder into a 45 Colt Ruger Vaquero.
It is such a fun gun to shoot and I can get twice as much 45 ACP ammo than I can 45 Colt.

Have a great day!

I've got an "Old Model" Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible.
Played around with the idea of getting one for years and finally ran across one when I had some extra cash.

With the 9mm cylinder in place it's a bit less accurate with ball than with .38 reloads, or factory .357s, in the .357 cylinder. Good enough for plinking though, and maybe for small game hunting in a pinch.

The cylinders are easy to change in and out.

It's fun to have around.

I bought this .45 convertible when they reintroduced it about 7 or 8 yrs ago. Never really used the .45 ACP cylinder much until just lately. After hearing all of the speculation about it not being accurate because of the long bullet jump I was surprised at the accuracy. Not quite as good as my .45 Colt loads but still pretty darn good. The cast Lead bullets I reload have to be seated with the driving band flush with the case mouths because of minimum head space but they shoot just fine as does factory loads for shorter range plinking or even more serious work.
