My Lee Pro 1000 is currently set up for 45 Colt. Since I don't shoot many 45 Colt rounds anymore and am shooting a lot of 9mm I want to change the press for 9mm. (I primed over 700 rounds of 9mm this past weekend and have another 3,000 cases waiting to be loaded).

I am saving the complete shell plate carrier and turret with the 45 Colt dies in case I decide to switch back in the future.

I already have Lee dies for 9mm and I will switch the powder measure to the other die. Other than a complete shell plate carrier and a new turret are there any other parts I need?

I have had the Lee Pro 1000 for a long time but have always reloaded either 45 ACP and 45 Colt on it. Any tips for the 9mm other than watching out for getting my fingers smashed when seating bullets?

It is a pretty straight forward deal. Apparently you are priming off press so you won't need to install a small primer feeder. The case feeder will need to be adjusted to the proper height for 9mm cases, put the dies in the turret, adjust them, install powder measure in die and adjust case mouth bell. Install the shell plate, Go Go Go.

Pro 1000 caliber conversion from 45Colt to 9mm will require:

- #19 shell plate
- Small primer attachment
- Small primer seating stem
- Small case feeder
- Small case slider

Since you are getting another shell plate carrier, #19 shell plate/small primer attachment/small primer seating stem can be installed and kept with the carrier. (If you are priming off press, then you can skip primer attachment/seating stem)

The large case feeder/slider won't work with 9mm case and you will need small case feeder and slider.

Smaller 9mm case can spill powder while clicking into station #3. To prevent powder spillage, I place the bullet on case mouth as case reaches station #3 (bullet is going there anyways).
