So, today I walked into the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. Less than 1/2 hour later I walk out with my Alabama concealed carry pistol permit. It was too easy.

Restrictive gun laws and NO provision for concealed carry (The last state to hold out completely) were a couple of the reasons I moved out of the state of Illinois.

Seriously, 'Bama has some pretty nice gun laws -- especially compared to Illinois!!

Can you even get a CCW in NYC?!? I always thought trying was impossible as there is no provision whatsoever.

Yes you can get a CCW in NYC provided you know someone! Last time I went to Carter Country's shooting range north of Houston TX before moving back to AL I met a guy that had a real to life NYC carry permit. He said a good friend was able to pull the strings for him!

The reason it took 1/2 hour they had to do an initial background check. Next time as long as your name isn't in their system it should only take 10 minutes or so. If they are not busy.
