Cool new 12 GA load

Precision Reloading does ballistic pressure testing on your loads for like 40 bucks a string iirc.

I'm gonna call them on monday.

I would seem to me that the round-ball would carry more velocity, longer and would push through the buck shot and increase the pattern size of the buck shot accordingly.

Thats exactly why these are in the order they are in. They are about a hallways' or less (give or take) width from 4- 18 yards.

If you wanted a tighter pattern at the end, you could reverse them as you specified.

If you pack them that way- put a few thicknesses of card between the pellets and the slug, or your pellets will just get jammed into a now very lopsided slug.

Ok, called BPI and talked with Megan.

This is apparently a service they offer to folks in just my shoes.

Thank you Poco Loco !!!!!!!

It is $40 for the first string, and $25 each for multiple strings. They need 6 shells- 5 to fire, and 1 to dismantle for each string.

You basically UPS or FEDEX it to them with your info, and they contact you for payment and instructions on how to deliver the results.

First dayday up= strings 'er goin in.... If I can get this crimp better, anyway !

Good advice !

I've hit a sticky point, however.

I'd like to use a new production hull for these.

And thats the sticky part.

On anything with a basewad, the volume is reduced just enough so that unless the sprue marks on the buckshot are aligned just perfectly- I get circus tents for crimp. After trying about 40 or so, I pretty much nailed that one down.

On a remy hull without a basewad I can get these to stay as crimped 95% of the time or better with the correct pressure in seating.

With that said, I'm having difficulty finding a source of new production hulls with the same internal volume of the gun club/ STS hull.

Once I can find that- these are getting shipped off to precision reloading. No use sending them pieces for pressure testing in a hull I dont intend to use for the final product.

I'm not certain if I fully understand the problem, but if it's just the sprues sticking out and occupying space, couldn't you just cut or grind them off?

That might be easier than finding the perfect hull.
