Anyone familiar with Cool Springs may or may not know that this Sunday is the last match before the gates close for good. Here is the e-mail.

IN SO FAR AS WE KNOW FOR RIGHT NOW, THIS WILL BE OUR LAST MATCH AT COOL SPRINGS

SO,LET US HAVE A BLAST AND BRING PLENTY OF AMMO

THERE WILL BE SIX STAGES OF BIG TIME FUN.ONE STAGE WILL HAVE 36 ROUNDS AND THERE WILL NOT BE A CLASSIFIER. NOTHING SHORT OF FUN.

MATCH FEE WILL BE $15.

WE WILL START EARLY AGAIN TO BEAT THE HEAT.

SIGN UP 8:00 A.M. AND SHOOT TIME AT 9:00 A.M.

BRING ANY OLD HALF DEAD BODY'S THAT YOU CAN SCRAPE UP FROM THE PAST AND SEE IF THEY REMEMBER THE GOOD OLE DAYS.

This is sad news. A member recently gave me the scoop. I shot IPSC there for 10 years in the 80's and 90's. The guys that put those matches on are very good people.

Seeing a thriving program shut down is sad indeed. I remember shooting the last IPSC match at Griffin Gun Club and Americus.

Not sure the details, but basically the landowner inherited the property from the founder of the club a few years ago and doesn't want to fool with it.

Hate to see any gun club close down, especially Cool Springs. Some of our members shoot there since we don't offer action pistol at our range. (at this time...)
